Wind Turbines
This week in Science we were learning all about renewable energy-Solar and wind Power.
Renewable energy is very popular at the moment not only for the sake of the environment but also due to the cost of energy bills on families today!
Energy from the wind is called Wind Energy or wind power. Wind power has been used for thousands of years for pumping water or milling grain into flour.
Today wind power is generated by wind turbines, also called windmills.
Wind turbines can be up to 180 metres tall . They have three blades that turn in the wind and generate energy.
During Art class we had to design our own windmill. We used paper, pencils, scissors, and thumb tacks . We had to ensure our windmill would spin and its blades were free to turn.We spoke about ways we could improve our designs and what we would change about our designs.
This was a very enjoyable STEM activity.
