Science Week is a week-long event in Ireland each November, celebrating science in our everyday lives.
We completed projects on the ipads in pairs on famous scientists. Here are a few examples of the types of scientists that we researched - botanists, chemists, zoologists, anthropologists and physicists!
We also carried out an experiment called 'The Lava Lamp' experiment. We needed vegetable oil, effervescent tablets, water and food dye. We worked in groups and each had a chance to get involved. We predicted what would happen and then we discussed why water and oil don't mix. We also discovered that as the effervescent tablet is added, it reacts with the water and forms carbon dioxide gas and sodium citrate.
