Science Week
Science Week was a great opportunity to enjoy some extra science lessons and discover more about the world around us with experiments.
We learned about buoyancy with a dancing raisins experiment. The raisins were heavy to begin with and sank when placed in a cup of 7up. The bubbles from
the 7up stuck to the raisins and caused them to float back up to the surface. They stayed there until the bubbles burst and then sank again.
We saw the effect that warm water has on sugar by doing an experiment with skittles. The warmer the water, the quicker the dye dissolved creating a rainbow effect.
We also did an experiment to find out if different materials are transparent, translucent or opaque.
