Relationships and Sexuality Education
This week we started our Relationships and Sexuality Education. In class we discussed the stages of development of the human baby from conception to birth.
First we spoke about all our experiences of new life - springtime; new growth in the garden ; new pets at home or on a farm, the arrival of a new sibling, cousin or neighbour.
We spoke about how a bird makes a nest comfortable for new chicks arriving and compared this to a mothers womb becoming softer and thicker in preparation for a new baby.
We were amazed to learn that when we began as a round fertilised egg, we were no bigger than the size of a full stop on a page. As the weeks went on we slowly developed until after nine months we were ready to be born.
Finally in groups we completed a sequencing activity. We had to complete the timeline of a new baby by matching ten pictures, ten time cards and ten information cards.
