4th Class Ms Trainor
On Friday 20th October 2017, there were two people from the Arts Council that came to visit 4th and 5th classes. At the start, Ciaran told us a story about a magic tree, while Yvonne was setting up the materials. They told us to create our own magic branch in groups. The branches were made out of thick foam. We used CDs, feathers, gold and silver tin foil, little rubber bands and string and stickers to decorate. Marko and Ben designed the platform of the tree. Yvonne helped us with the glue gun if we needed it. At the end, we thanked them and cleaned up. We had loads of fun!

Ms Storey’s 4th Class
In Fourth Class we have been busy working on our English writing! We began the year by researching someone that we admire and writing up a Biography on their life. This took lots of hard work but we were really happy with how they all turned out. This term we have created interesting Mini Projects on insects and arachnids in pairs. Firstly we had to choose our Mini Beast. Then we had to do lots of research on the iPads and using factual books, dividing up the work between us! We then had to write up all of our information in our own words and creating diagrams of the creatures. We are looking forward to sharing all of our information with others! At the moment we have been working on Winter stories. Firstly we had to introduce our interesting characters, then we had to create a
detailed setting before planning the plot of our story! We then began our first draft of our story, editing it by ourselves and with our teacher, before we wrote up our next draft, making sure that we were really happy with it. Finally we wrote up our story, illustrated it, designed our front cover. We are so proud of all of our hard work and can’t wait for you all to read them!
Fourth class have been working hard on our Nativity ‘Rock Around the Flock’. Firstly, we had to learn all of the songs and practice them until they sounded brilliant! Next we held auditions, and finally we started to learn all of our lines! Next we had to make our costumes and the props for the show! We have been really busy making sure that everything is perfect, practicing nearly every day! Our show was on the 19th of December in St. George’s Church. We did a fantastic job and all of our hard work really paid off! All of our families were so proud of us! Merry Christmas everyone!
Senior Infants- Ms. Corrie
The Planetarium
This term the Planetarium came to visit our school. Each class took turns to visit the planetarium in the sports hall. We all went into a big blow up dome and lay down on the ground to watch pictures on the roof. We were all very brave as it was very dark inside the dome. It was amazing. It was just like being in space. We learned lots about the planets and the stars. We learned that the planets are round like a ball and that orbits are flat like a pancake. After our journey to space we decided to draw pictures using black paper and chalks. What do you think of our work?
Senior Infants Ms Ryan
The Student Council did a wonderful job organising a Halloween walk for the whole school. The children in Senior Infants had lots of fun taking part in the
activities that were set up all around the school grounds. The children in Ms Ryan’s class enjoyed hopping along a spooky trail and going on a scavenger hunt around the yard. They also got to put their throwing skills to the test and aim at spider web targets. The children said that the “Pumpkin Rolling Race” was their favourite part of the day. The members of the Student Council should be very proud of themselves for all of their hard work. It was great to see everyone getting active while having so much fun!
3rd Class Ms Mullan
Our Christmas decorations
On the 30th November, we were sewing Christmas tress. It was fun with needles, but it kept on pricking us.Some people finished on time and after we decorated it with sequins and we also stuffed it with cotton wool. People chose different colours of thread and that’s why they were all so unique. It was hard but it was worth it seeing them finished.

On 1st December we put up our Christmas tree. We also put decorations on it.everyone got a turn of putting on decorations.We put on bells, lights and bows. Dimeji put on the star. The best part about it was that whole class got to do it like a team. Teacher called two or three people to decorate it one by one. We put up many, like bows and elves as well as Santa Claus and way more.
Football Club Members
We were so lucky to receive a visit from the Dublin teams, winners of the All Ireland mens and womens football championship. Our class to to take a photo with them. We were so lucky. For the women Eimear came and for the men Evan came. They told us about how they started football. We asked them lots of questions and we are really sure that we learned a lot

3rd Class Mrs McNally
We did an assembly. It was about Halloween. We learned about where many of the Halloween traditions come from. We sang ‘This Little Light of Mine’.
We made rockets during science week. We made little rockets out of paper. To make them move you have to blow into them with a straw. We made big rockets out of foam. You have to fire them with a ruler. We had fun firing our rockets in the hall.
We are working hard in our class. We have nearly forty ‘maith thu’ cards now. When we get to forty cards we are having a special surprise.

1st Class Ms Dunne
In 1st class we became scientists for a day. We did eight experiments and had lots of fun. We made lava lamps and also made a tornado in a bottle. We kept our lava lamps on our tables so we can see them work every day. We made our own butter, it tasted yummy on crackers! We built a castle using spaghetti and marshmallows. We made colours dance in milk using washing up liquid and we used bubbles to make raisins dance. We also used a lemon as a battery in a clock. We were all very tired at the end of the day but it was worth it!
European Fairy Tale Programme
1s Class Ms Gaughan
1st class were invited to Balbriggan Library to hear Pat Ryan tell some wonderful stories. We had a great time walking down the town and enjoyed looking over the bridge at the Bracken River. The Storyteller told us lots of tales. Our favourite one was called ‘Flossie and the Fox.’ We wrote all about it when we got back to school.
6th Class Mr Falvey
In our class we had an awesome party and we made pizzas in class! We shared pizzas in groups of four and everyone got a fair amount. We decorated the pizzas with tomato sauce, cheese, sweet corn, pepperoni, peppers ham and some spices! We also used pizza bases(of course). We devoured the delicious pizza. After the party we wrote the instructions for making pizzas in our hardbacks.
6th Class Ms King
Trip to Christchurch
The teachers had picked ten students to go to the church to represent St. George’s at the annual Church of Ireland schools’ ceremony.
We left school early so when we got to the church we were able to practise. We learnt a drumming song and there were different groups playing lots of different instruments. The teachers from our school and the teachers from other schools had to sing.
It was fun and very funny. It was a great time.
During the ceremony, our band performed for everyone there.
After all that fun sadly we had to get back on the bus and go back to school.
It was a great time and I am very happy I was one of the students able to go. Thank you teachers.

Junior Infants Ms Nairn
It has been a very exciting and busy term for Junior Infants from starting their first day of school in September, which seems like a lifetime ago, to preparing for their Christmas show ‘A Snowman at Sunset’. We are all very excited for our upcoming trip to see ‘Rudolph’ in the theatre. We have been singing lots of Christmas songs every day to get us into the Christmas spirit.
We had great fun designing our own cupcakes for the bake sale. We covered them with chocolate and used lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips to decorate (they were very yummy!)
We have been doing the theme of ‘The Vet’ in Aistear for the past month. The children have been role-playing in the vet surgery and taking care of all the sick animals, from bandaging a dog’s broken leg to giving the animals injections.
Junior infants have also learned all of their sounds for the 1st time and enjoy forming their letters using playdough, sand and whiteboards.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Ms. Nairn’s Junior Infants
Ms Anderson’s Junior Infants class.
We have had a lot of fun and learning in term 1 of Junior Infants, with exploration of ‘The Doctor’s Surgery’, ‘The Farmer’s Market’ and ‘The Pet Shop’ in our Aistear time of day. Our language has been expanded greatly in these areas. Our ‘Junk Art’ and ‘Construction’ skills have also been built upon during this time also. We have also been busy learning about the Seasons of Autumn and Winter, how they differ as well as what to look out for at these exciting times of year. We now know about hibernating animals and nocturnal animals, as well as ‘camouflage’! We also had fun creating healthy eating collages with supermarket leaflets. Teacher also taught us all about different materials, and we explored items in the classroom that are made of different materials. Also we now know what to do if there is an emergency and we have to call the firebrigade, police or ambulance…call 911 or 112! We even practiced making calls, and reporting incidents. Our Christmas play for parents has been a big project, and we have been practicing lots to deliver a great performance on Friday 15th. We can’t wait to see our parents’ faces!
5th Class Ms Wallace
Last term, 5th class enjoyed decorating our classroom in the lead-up to Hallowe’en. We had a colour theme of orange and purple and we also painted masks as part of our Art lesson.
The week before Hallowe’en, we had a visit from two local Gardai from Balbriggan garda station. They spoke to us about fire safety and the dangers of illegal bonfires and fireworks. The Gardai spoke about ways in which we could enjoy Hallowe’en safely with the whole community. They also reminded us to take special care of our pets at this time, as the loud noise of bangers and fireworks can cause them a lot of distress. Afterwards we discussed how each of us planned to spend Hallowe’en with our family and friends. We enjoyed our Hallowe’en party in class on Friday, everyone dressed up. Anastasia looked especially impressive as a mad scientist!
5th class
On the 8th December 2017 we made a Christmas tree picture with Ms Kay, it was really fun.
Ms Kay made a picture. We got to hang them outside on the wall. We got so much nice comments about our drawing. We hope you have a nice holiday.

2nd Class Ms Maxon & Ms Caldwell’s
The children have had a busy and enjoyable term learning lots of new things. They are most excited with upcoming Christmas concert and have been practicing very hard. 2nd Class Ms Byrne
Sports conditioning
Second class have been doing sports with Noel and Steven from Fingal County Council. It is very fun and good for your body. We have been learning new balancing and strength exercises. Some games we have played are “flush the toilet” and “bench ball”, We also played tennis,skipping and practised our throwing and kicking skills. Noel and Steven are great sports teachers.
