Food Dudes
St. George’s school has been taking part in the Food Dudes programme again this year. Food Dudes is an award winning, curriculum-linked and evidence based healthy eating programme. It was developed to encourage children to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. It is based on repeated tastings of fresh fruit and vegetables, rewards and positive role models.
We are very enthusiastic about this healthy eating programme as it brings about significant change and improvement in children’s eating habits. The programme effectively increases provision and consumption of fruit and vegetables at home and in school, both in the short- and long-term. To date, over 3,300 primary schools and over one million pupils have successfully participated in the programme!

Schools may be temporarily closed at the moment but that doesn’t mean that your child has to miss out on this great programme. Food Dudes has created a ‘Fun at Home’ section on their website. Here you will find games, worksheets and videos that you can download for your children to do at home during the school closure. The resources are suitable for primary school children of all ages and they make learning about fruit, vegetables and healthy eating fun! New resources will added each week in both Irish and English.
We hope you enjoy taking part in these Food Dudes activities at home.
