Exploring the Beauty of Irish Trees

3rd Jan 2025

This week in our SESE lessons, we embarked on a hands-on adventure to learn about Irish trees. After studying their features in the classroom, we stepped outside to observe and explore the trees around us.

The children were fascinated by the variety of leaves they discovered. They carefully examined their:

  • Shapes – from oval to lobed, each leaf had its unique outline.
  • Textures – smooth, waxy, or rough, depending on the tree.
  • Colors – vibrant greens, golden yellows, and rich browns as autumn paints its palette.
  • Edges – some serrated like tiny saws, others beautifully smooth.

This outdoor exploration brought learning to life, allowing the children to connect with nature and deepen their understanding of the world around them. It was a joy to see their curiosity and excitement as they asked questions, compared leaves, and shared their observations.

Parents, your children showed a wonderful sense of wonder and engagement throughout this activity. They’re becoming little scientists, exploring and appreciating the natural beauty of Ireland.
