Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is on the 22nd of January this year. Our class enjoyed learning all about this Lunar Festival.
We learned this year is the Year of the Rabbit. We loved reading the legend about the Chinese Zodiac and how each of the 12 animals got a year named after them.
We used the ipads to research facts and discovered that most of us were born in the year of the Dragon.
The festival lasts for fifteen days and ends with the Lantern festival. During this festival people have a big parade and watch a dragon dance. We had great fun making our own dragons and even got to write our own names in Chinese. During English class we read Chinese menus and then got a chance to create our own Chinese restaurant menu. This made us all very hungry!
Happy Chinese New Year
