Black History Week
We were all very busy this week participating in Black History Week. We started with a class discussion on what racism was , had we ever witnessed racism and what to do if we heard or saw racism. Unfortunately some members of our own class had been victims of racist comments.
We read about the lives of many significant Black people in areas such as history, sport, politics and Science.
Our favourite part of the week was getting to do our own mini projects on a significant black person of our own choosing. We choose people such as Nelson Mandela, Marcus Rashford, Mae Jemison, Barack Obama, Venus Williams and many others. We researched their lives for homework and at school using the ipads.
We finished the week by designing Anti Racist posters to display in our school.
"Our school is a safe place for all races and ethnicities".
