Biodiversity Workshop
Today we had a visitor to our classroom. Her name was Mairéad and she worked for Biodiversity Ireland. She was an ecologist and studied Zoology and Botany. She taught us all about biodiversity in this workshop.
We learned that biodiversity is all about the various plants and animals in our World. We discussed the different species of animals and plants that are common to Ireland. We also looked at the habitats of these animals and plants.
At the end of the workshop we went to investigate what plants and animals are living in our school garden. We found lots of mini-beasts and snail eggs living under the wooden planks. We also enjoyed smelling the gorse plant which smelled like coconut.
Mairéad awarded us with a certificate for our participation in this “Nature Hero Bootcamp”
